How we help

Humankind manages the press office function for EAA whenever a humanitarian crisis strikes, as well as being involved in ongoing communications planning, and reporting.

Humankind is on 24-hour call to set up and manage the press office function for EAA whenever a humanitarian emergency strikes. From convening cross-agency emergency meetings, to developing media plans, briefing spokespeople, responding reactively to media when an emergency happens or proactively pitching stories to gain public awareness of ongoing disasters.

Since commencing work with EAA in 2022 we have successfully responded to disasters such as the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa and the Türkiye/Syria earthquakes, gaining significant media attention for these emergencies and in turn, helping to raise millions of dollars to support people affected.

In their words

"Jackie at Humankind Advisory has been instrumental in helping Emergency Action Alliance launch its emergency appeals to the Australian public. Jackie has written and distributed appeal launch media releases and liaised with key media contacts to secure an excellent level of coverage for emergencies such as the Horn of Africa hunger crisis and the Türkiye/Syria earthquakes. Jackie worked closely with our colleagues at the ABC to help secure an important field visit of an ABC journalist to one of our emergency operations sites in Somalia resulting in an increase in awareness about the hunger crisis.

Jackie has been the key liaison point between media, EAA, its members and spokespeople during emergencies, managing and reporting on the interview activities, and ensuring spokespeople were thoroughly briefed.

We look forward to continuing working with Jackie and Humankind Advisory as we continue to grow this important humanitarian alliance."

- KERREN MORRIS, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, EMERGENCY ACTION ALLIANCE
